The story
Eric, an Airbnb host, reached out for help refreshing the interior of his large rental property. He initially wanted to redesign the main bedroom based on an existing interior concept created by a friend. He loved the original design, including its style, colour palette and overall aesthetic, but there was one major problem: the recommended furniture was too expensive for a rental property.
Because Airbnb furniture needs to withstand frequent guest use and occasional damage, investing in high-end pieces didn’t make financial sense. Eric wanted the same visual impact without the premium price tag. We started by exploring affordable alternatives from retailers such as Amazon, Wayfair, Overstock, Target, IKEA, Walmart, Etsy, TJ Maxx and eBay.
The challenge
- Keep the existing style and colours
- Stay within approximately $500 per room
- Find affordable furniture and décor
- Make each room more attractive and photogenic
- Choose durable, rental-friendly products
Our solution
We created a budget-focused room refresh strategy by finding affordable alternatives from retailers like Amazon, Wayfair, IKEA, Target, Walmart, Etsy and others. Instead of completely redesigning each room, we focused on one statement, Instagrammable piece supported by small, inexpensive décor items. This allowed the property to look more stylish and memorable while keeping the investment practical for an Airbnb.
